Get Involved
The American Cancer Society would not be successful without one key element: you! Because of our generous donors and volunteers, we’ve been able to help thousands of people across the globe with breakthrough research, crucial patient care programs, and education and prevention initiatives. That’s why it’s so important to get involved in Relay For Life and fundraise — because when you do, you help save lives.

WAYS TO PARTICIPATE
Joining a Relay For Life event is easy. All you have to do is pick your event, sign up, and decide how you’d like to be involved. Here are some ways to get in on the fun:
Want to become a captain of compassion? You’ll make a huge difference by recruiting members, organizing fundraising goals, and cheering on your team the whole time.
There’s no participation trophy, but the reward is much sweeter. You can join an existing team, start your own, or volunteer at the event. Whichever one you choose, we’d love to see you.
Survivors and Caregivers
Survivors and caregivers are the heart of every Relay For Life event. We have activities and events designed specifically for you so you can get to know others in the community. In fact, it’s the largest cancer support network in the world!
Why participate as a survivor or caregiver?
If you’d like to join the survivor and caregiver activities at the event, but don’t want to join a team, that’s no problem. Once you’ve chosen the event you’d like to participate in, just select the ‘Walk the Survivor Lap’ option.
Create Your Own Event
Prove that you’re fearless in the fight by organizing your very own Relay For Life event. It only takes a few minutes to submit your request, get approved, and get started on creating a local event that can make a world of difference!

MORE WAYS TO GIVE
The American Cancer Society wouldn’t be able to act on its mission without the help of generous people like you. Relay For Life participants collect most of our donations but you can also give independently of Relay. Here’s how:
DEDICATE A LUMINARIA

Luminaria bags honor every life touched by cancer. You can dedicate them to a loved one lost, someone currently battling, or anyone who’s overcome it. It’s our way of showing that there’s a light, even in darkness.
When you attend a Relay event, you’ll see small white bags decorated with names and sometimes messages to the people they’re dedicated to. After dark, each Luminaria lit is in remembrance of a life touched by cancer.
When you make a donation for a Luminaria, it helps fund the American Cancer Society’s patient programs and breakthrough research.
Become A Sponsor
You can make a meaningful contribution to the American Cancer Society as a local Relay For Life sponsor. Supporting a local event sends a message that you care about your community. If you or your employer is interested in sponsoring an event, please send us your information by completing the form below.
Would you like to lead the team or join the team?
This isn’t what I wanted.
Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.
Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
This tool allows event managers to edit sections of the event website. Here’s how:
- When you see the edit pencil icon, click it to enable edit mode for that section of the page.
- Use the in-line editor controls to make changes to the section.
- Use the save icon to save your changes and exit edit mode.
It’s that easy! Throughout the year, we’ll unlock more sections and add features to this tool in order to improve your ability to manage your event website.
