Shop Strides GearNearly 250,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. That could be your mother, sister, daughter, your wife, or even you. We hold Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks so anyone touched by breast cancer won't have to face their diagnosis alone. We do it to raise awareness and money to fund research, support services, and early detection. We hold Making Strides events to save lives.
Survivors and caregivers are not only an inspiration to us all, they're a beacon of hope for those currently undergoing treatment.
Normani Kordei of Fifth Harmony became a caregiver at just 4 years old when her mother, Andrea Hamilton, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. They’re sharing their story to help increase awareness about the importance of breast cancer screenings and mammography.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events celebrate survivors and raise awareness and money to help the American Cancer Society save lives. The money is used to fund innovative research, provide free information and support programs to patients and caregivers, and to help reduce breast cancer risks or find it early when it's most treatable. That's why your participation in these walks is absolutely critical to our success. The more money we can raise through these walks, the bigger the impact we can make on cancer.
We've had a good start. The American Cancer Society has played a critical role in many breast cancer breakthroughs including funding the drugs Tamoxifen and Herceptin. Money raised this year could go towards developing the next generation of lifesaving treatments. Which means you could be a part of the next big breast cancer breakthrough! Join an event now and help us save lives from breast cancer.
More than $62 Million are currently invested in breast cancer research grants.
In 2016, we provided more than 335,000 rides to and from treatment.
Last year patient navigators helped guide nearly 45,000 patients through the health care system.
More than 11,000 one-on-one support services were provided to breast cancer patients in 2016.
More than 36,000 women learned how to manage the appearance-related side effects of treatment.

Welcome to our Team Page. We’ve formed a team because this cause is important to us. We want to help. And walking and raising money in our local American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is the best way we can do that. We all have different reasons for participating but we share a determination to help save lives from breast cancer.
There are so many ways that the money our team raises helps. It’s helping fund innovative research. It’s providing free information for people dealing with the disease. It’s providing rides to treatment and places to stay for people who have to seek treatment far from home. In short, our money is helping save lives. Consider donating to our team and helping advance the cause.
How We Support the American Cancer Society
Of course we walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. And we solicit donations from family, friends, and other supporters. But we also schedule fundraisers in lead-up to the big event. Bake-sales, car washes, and countless other types of events. And we promote those on social media, through Facebook and Twitter, by word of mouth, and through flyers at work and around the neighborhood. The success of fundraising events depends on two things - hard work and getting the word out. And we're out to do both. Keep an eye out for our fundraising events.
