What can you expect when you join Making Strides? From the day you sign up to the day of the walk, you’ll be fueling the fight against breast cancer by fundraising. On walk day, you’ll celebrate survivors - and all your hard work.
1. Sign up
When you register for your local walk you can choose to lead a team, join an existing team, or walk solo - the choice is yours.
2. Recruit friends and family
Whether you’re on a team, leading a team, or even walking solo, get friends and family to join you - more people means more power to fight breast cancer.
3. Set a fundraising goal
A big part of the Making Strides experience is raising money to fuel the fight against breast cancer. Setting a goal is a great way to keep yourself motivated and your fundraising on track.
4. Raise money
Plan a fundraiser like a bake sale, car wash, jewelry sale, or casual day. Post on social media. Set up a Facebook fundraiser. There are lots of ways to raise money for Making Strides. We’ll even give you tips and tools to make it easier.
5. Prep for walk day
Dig out your best pink attire - tutus, socks, wigs - and order team shirts to show your spirit. Pick a spot to meet your team at the event and make a checklist of everything you’ll need on walk day, so nothing falls through the cracks.
6. Walk and Celebrate
Time to celebrate survivors and have some fun. Visit breast cancer information booths and enjoy pre-walk entertainment and swag from your local sponsors. Then walk with pride, knowing you’re helping to end breast cancer.
How is Making Strides different from other breast cancer walks? Simple: we’re fundraising for more than just research. We’re raising money to help breast cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers through every step of their experience - whether that means giving a patient a ride to chemo, helping a survivor look good so they feel better, or being available to answer a caregiver’s question at 2am. As they say, it takes a village. We hope you’ll be part of ours.

Would you like to lead the team or join the team?
This isn’t what I wanted.
Welcome to our Team Page. We've formed a team because this cause is important to us. We want to help. And walking and raising money in our local American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is the best way we can do that. We all have different reasons for participating but we share a determination to help save lives from breast cancer.
There are so many ways that the money our team raises helps. It’s helping fund innovative research. It's providing free information for people dealing with the disease. It’s providing rides to treatment and places to stay for people who have to seek treatment far from home. In short, our money is helping save lives. Consider donating to our team and helping advance the cause.
How We Support the American Cancer Society
Of course we walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. And we solicit donations from family, friends, and other supporters. But we also schedule fundraisers in lead-up to the big event. Bake-sales, car washes, and countless other types of events. And we promote those on social media, through Facebook and Twitter, by word of mouth, and through flyers at work and around the neighborhood. The success of fundraising events depends on two things - hard work and getting the word out. And we're out to do both. Keep an eye out for our fundraising events.
