Why I Support the American Cancer Society
I was first introduced to the American Cancer Society, Best Dressed Ball, 4 years ago when my friend and Co-worker, Emily Evans, was an Honoree in the first Nashville event! My husband, Rusty, and I have attended every year since! We have loved gathering with friends, dressing up and bidding on some great items in both the silent and live auctions! The Ball has been a wonderful way to get us involved and encourage everyone to check it out!!
Like many of us, we have been effected by cancer. My first introduction to this terrible disease was in High School when my dear friend was diagnosed. I think I was too young and naïve to understand how this could, in a few short years, take her from us.
Rusty and I recently lost 3 of our 4 parents to cancer in a 5 year span. All 3 were “young” 80 year olds enjoying the growth of their families with Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren when they were taken from us. When I stop to count the family and friends we have lost, the number is staggering and I’m sure you can relate.
This year I was asked to be an Honoree for the Best Dressed Ball and I could not be more proud to represent such a great organization. We have been so blessed in our lives with a wonderful family now filled with our own Grandchildren, careers in the same Footwear industry that has provided us with lifelong friends and a home in Nashville that we have fallen in love with over the last 9 years.
I’m also proud of the fact that the company that I work for, Genesco, is once again a supporter of the Best Dressed Ball! It is such a pleasure working for a company that supports a cause like this, and others, in Nashville.
In our busy lives we tend to “talk about getting involved” and “scroll” on by a post that asks for donations but today I am asking you to stop and recognize the needs of others and all that the American Cancer Society does, by supporting me in this effort.
Funds raised support cancer patient programs and groundbreaking research that can help save lives. This event also celebrates over 15.5 million cancer survivors nationwide. 15.5 MILLION. That’s huge. That’s why I’d love your support. Will you join me? And if you can’t would you be so kind as to make a donation?
Getting involved and attending the Best Dressed Ball will change your life and donating will change the lives of millions!
Thank you so much,
Liz
