Welcome to My Personal Page

I have participated in Making Strides in Boston with my family for more than 15 years .I started after we lost I my cousin Betty andAunt Alice to breast cancer. My family has Li-Fraumeni Syndrome a rare genetic disorder that predisposes us to many types of cancer, including breast cancer. Volunteering, raising money and spreading the word about what the American Cancer Society does to help patients and their families and how it supports research to better understand, prevent and treat cancer is something I can do to fight back against cancer.  It's why I walk.

My niece, Sarah Ruiz, was only 27 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Genetic testing at that time showed she had LFS something we had never heard of. This explained the reason for so much cancers in our family . Sarah  was a beautiful soul. She did her best to find the best treatments and live life to the fullest.  She lost her battle in 2014.  Her sister, Rachael, was diagnosed in 2013 with sarcoma of the breast . Today, Rachael is cancer free. Both ladies were treated in Boston Hospitals by Dr. Judy Garber and others who are on the cutting edge of research here in MA.  Both were supported by The American Cancer Society and The  Li-Fraumeni Association.

Sarah's faith, courage, strength, love and hope touched many. Sarah lost her battle in January 2014 but her legacy shines on!

We need to find a cure. Statistics show 1:3 women and 1:2 men will get cancer in their lifetime , 1:8 will get breast cancer .  Walks like this fund research and help fund clinical trials too.

Welcome to our Team Page. We've formed a team because this cause is important to us. We want to help. And walking and raising money in our local American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is the best way we can do that. We all have different reasons for participating but we share a determination to help save lives from breast cancer.

There are so many ways that the money our team raises helps. It’s helping fund innovative research. It's providing free information for people dealing with the disease. It’s providing rides to treatment and places to stay for people who have to seek treatment far from home. In short, our money is helping save lives. Consider donating to our team and helping advance the cause.

How We Support the American Cancer Society

Of course we walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. And we solicit donations from family, friends, and other supporters. But we also schedule fundraisers in lead-up to the big event. Bake-sales, car washes, and countless other types of events. And we promote those on social media, through Facebook and Twitter, by word of mouth, and through flyers at work and around the neighborhood. The success of fundraising events depends on two things - hard work and getting the word out. And we're out to do both. Keep an eye out for our fundraising events.
