WARRIOR WOMEN & THEIR TRIBE TEAM
In July of 2022, I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Triple Negative DCIS Breast Cancer. Triple-negative accounts for only 10-12% of women who get diagnosed. Doctors have no idea what caused the tumor leaving no clues on how to treat it, other than throwing the kitchen sink at it. I completed four rounds of chemo and had a double mastectomy with an aesthetic flat closure (no reconstruction). We like to call ourselves “flatties”.
Breasts don’t make women beautiful and for sure don’t define our femininity.
The Breast Cancer Team I have assembled is called “Warriors Women & their Tribe”. As a photographer, I wanted to give back to this community while allowing myself to heal from this cancer journey —these brave folks who were given no choice but to fight. As I brainstormed what the project may look like the idea snowballed into what I feel is my life’s purpose.
On May 1st, 2023 “Warrior Women Portraits” was created.
I’m offering Cancer Warriors a UNIQUE and EMPOWERING Portrait Experience
Celebrating their strength, beauty, and resilience through stunning imagery.
This year I have been graciously selected as a “Portraits of Hope Ambassador” for the Oregon & Washington areas. Two other amazing ladies giving back to the cancer community will be alongside me hitting the town to raise awareness and share our stories.
The funds I'm raising will sustain critical research and provide services for people trying to cope with their breast cancer journey like me.
Breast cancer has affected too many people, and the numbers keep growing. Not to mention the age keeps getting younger and younger.
