Cancer touches all of us. Mothers, daughters, sons, fathers, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Cancer does not discriminate. I’m no different…of my parents combined 25 siblings / parents (you read that right), 15 OF THEM were diagnosed with / lost a battle to cancer (including 7 with breast cancer). Too many friends with recent diagnoses, in various stages of treatment, or that lost their battle. All of them fighting…and not all of them winning.
But let me tell you something…there is reason to be hopeful. We can beat cancer. Let me say that again WE CAN BEAT CANCER. In ALL its forms. I’m fortunate to know survivors, including my mom (and 3 of her siblings). We need more success stories like that. The research and treatments developed so far to combat breast cancer have also proven effective for other forms of the disease. Through funding, advocacy, and support, there is NO reason cancer can't be cured in our lifetimes. And that only happens when we give.
Which is why I’m asking you to join me in raising both awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society (ACS) through their ‘Men Wear Pink’ campaign. From now through October 31, I’ll be wearing pink as part of a friendly ‘competition’ with 20 other men in Central PA to raise as much money as we possibly can on behalf of ACS. MY GOAL IS $100,000. Think big and we'll make a huge impact together. We can totally do this.
Don’t donate for me…give for the people in your life. The ones you can't imagine having to endure pain, treatments, surgeries, emotional anguish, and physical impacts. Try to picture what it would be like to lose them. And then give. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support. All donations are incredibly appreciated (and tax deductible). Together, we’re stronger than cancer.
Your support allows the American Cancer Society to continue:
Advocacy
Fighting breast cancer in city halls, statehouses, and Congress by elevating the patient voice to advance policy change through the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN)
Patient Support
Ensuring no one feels alone at any point on their breast cancer journey, from prevention to survivorship, and, for some, the end of life.
Discovery
Investing in breakthrough science to find more - and better - treatments, uncover factors that may cause breast cancer, and improve patients' quality of life.
Health Equity
Ensuring that all people have a fair and just opportunity to prevent, find, treat, and survive breast cancer. ACS and ACS CAN believe all people should have a fair and just opportunity to live a longer, healthier life free from cancer regardless of how much money they make, the color of their skin, their sexual orientation, gender identity, their disability status, or where they live.
