John Spain is the owner of Maine Art Hill in Kennebunk, Maine. Over 27 years ago, he came to Kennebunk from Concord, NH, following a few years of gallery experience in Manhattan. He has built his home and grown his business in The Kennebunks and is proud to call Maine home.
When he's not at the gallery, he usually is off seeking a little adventure. Be it in a race car, repelling in a canyon in Utah, or just down the street sharing a microphone with a local band. He is always moving. He and his partner, Trisha, are often found out and about and genuinely enjoy the community in which they live.
Even though The Kennebunks have become a large destination area, it is also very much a small local community. Because Spain lives and works in Kennebunk, supporting the town has always been important. From building community awareness as a board member of the Kennebunkport Festival, establishing and growing a local art scholarship, or by being involved in supporting and attending a variety of charitable events held in town, Spain recognizes the need to give back.
Real Men Wear Pink is another one of those opportunities. Not only has cancer touched Spain’s world personally, but many of Maine Art Hill’s employees have fought with this disease, either personally or alongside family members. The entire staff wholeheartedly supports the participation in this campaign. In addition, the gallery also represents several amazing artists who are breast cancer survivors. They, along with many other artists, enthusiastically climbed on board to help with this cause that is so near and dear.
It is such a privilege to be asked to participate in Real Men Wear Pink, and Spain is excited about being involved in this campaign. It offers him the opportunity not only to personally bring in awareness but to use his business to feature beautiful works art and use his huge network of clients and friends to raise awareness and money for this cause.
