Why I Wear Pink
I'm wearing pink to honor the life and memory of Debbe Sauerhoff.
In 2020, I was honored to be selected as a Real Men Wear Pink candidate for the first time. That same October, my husband’s aunt, Aunt Debbe as she frequently asked that I call her, received her breast cancer diagnosis, and began to fight against the disease.
In September 2021, as we began to gear up for another Real Men Wear Pink campaign, Aunt Debbe received the devastating news that her cancer had metastasized, and she was now facing stage 4 breast cancer. She persisted and was determined to live her life to the fullest.
Sadly, on July 8, 2022, Aunt Debbe’s nearly two-year battle with breast cancer came to an end surrounded by her family. It is in her memory that I choose to wear pink and raise awareness about the impact this disease has on the lives of so many.
Breast cancer doesn’t discriminate and there is virtually no one who hasn’t been affected by it in some way regardless of whether you're a man or a woman. That's why I'm stepping up to fight breast cancer with all I have. Since I'm able to make a difference within my community, I believe I have an obligation to do so. By raising money and awareness through Real Men Wear Pink, I'm helping to save more lives from breast cancer.
I hope you’ll join me by supporting my campaign through donations or attending an event. It doesn’t take an army to make a difference. It just takes everyday people to make impactful decisions. A wave begins as a small ripple.
Why I Support the American Cancer Society
Each day, the American Cancer Society saves more lives from breast cancer than ever before. They are helping people take steps to reduce their risk of breast cancer or find it early when it's easier to treat. They provide free information and services when and where people need them. They fund groundbreaking breast cancer research and they're working to ensure access to mammograms for women who need them.
As the nation's largest private, not-for-profit source of funds for scientists studying cancer, the American Cancer Society remains committed to funding basic, translational, clinical, and cancer control research now and in the future - as much as they are able given their available financial resources.
About Me
I founded Tipsy Social in 2016 and serve as CEO today. I share my unique passion for strategic marketing with businesses throughout the Hudson Valley and beyond; helping them grow by teaching them new ways to better serve their customers.
I have over 10 years of experience working with varying entities on connecting with their audience. First, beginning my career working at not-for-profit organizations developing programs to influence community behavior change, I now carry over that value-first mindset to the small business and corporate clients we serve.
My approach to marketing focuses on the impact business decisions make on the relationships they have with their customers. I believe the key to success is rooted in maintaining genuine connections with customers through honest communication, transparent business practices, and a consistent willingness to evolve.
I grew up in Central New York and moved to Albany to attend the University at Albany. I remained in the Capital Region where I would meet my amazing husband, Anthony. In 2017, I graduated summa cum laude from Southern New Hampshire University with a master’s degree in strategic marketing. I was honored in 2020 to be named a Forty Under 40 Mover & Shaker by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce. I’m a member of the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts, American Marketing Association, Hudson Valley Young Professionals, and Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce.
When I’m not working on growing Tipsy Social’s impact in the community, I love spending time around the house with my husband and our two rescue dogs, vacationing at Disney World, and searching for the world’s best margarita.
