Why I Relay

Why I Relay- I lost my husband to cancer. I fought so hard to save him. I took him to every chemo treatment and oversaw all his care. We went through a lot together but it was not God’s will for him to stay with me here on earth. He was diagnosed in August 2017 and passed away April 27, 2018.... Just 8 short months later. I was completely devastated. We had been together for 25 years. Our love and commitment to one another always got us through every challenge in life but not this one.  I was angry at the doctors and hospitals and decided I needed to channel those emotions towards something positive if I was ever going to start the healing process. I decided to join Relay for Life to honor my husband’s memory and help others deal with this dreadful disease. I also have 10 other family members that have/had cancer and wanted to honor them as well. Relay for Life is now something I look forward to every year. I affectionately call my fundraising campaign, “Dollars for Dave” in honor of my beloved husband. I want to give it my all to raise as much money as I can. I need to see SURVIVORS...... to make a difference. Hopefully I will do just that!

Cancer has affected so many people I know and love that it’s inspired me to join Relay For Life. This fundraiser is a community-based event, which means no two Relays are the same, but they all support the American Cancer Society’s mission.

Funds raised support cancer patient programs and groundbreaking research that can help save lives. This event also celebrates over 15.5 million cancer survivors nationwide. 15.5 MILLION. That’s huge. That’s why I’d love your support. Will you walk with me? And if you can’t would you be so kind as to make a donation?

Thank You Donors

Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.

Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
