Why I Relay

Why I Participate in a Relay For Life Event

As many of you know, my oldest brother Jim Koelzer died in September of 2014 of this dreadful disease. The year before,  we walked on the same team with Jim on the survivor lap. Now he's moved on to a new world. May God be with him. Relay for life is my way to help raise awareness and raise funds in hopes of finding a cure before this disease takes another loved one from anybody!

My great-nephew, Blake Cazier, was diagnosed with AML on December 28, 2015 at the age of one year old. After 15 months of fighting, he passed away on March 7, 2017. Blake was strong and brave throughout his treatment. His parents, Jaclyn and Chris Cazier, were just as strong and always faithful while supporting their son. I relay to fight for children like Blake. I relay to support parents like Jaclyn and Chris. I relay so no family like theCaziers ever feels alone.I relay so no parent has to suffer the loss that Jaclyn and Chris did. I relay because I am #ForeverTeamBlake

Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.

Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.

Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
