Why I Relay

Why I Relay
I got the call while on my lunch break. YOU HAVE CANCER! My world shifted and suddenly everything seemed muffled as if I was under water, but that feeling ended as quickly as it started. I don't know how many times my doctor asked "Lisa, are you still there?" " Are you okay?" before I actually heard her. I answered "yes I'm okay" but inside I was screaming NO,NO,NO this can't be happening! That was the beginning of a very long ride which still hasn't come to a complete stop. I was diagnosed with Stage 3, grade 3 Triple Negative BC with lymph node involvement. I have under gone multiple surgeries, chemo, radiation, physical therapy, and reconstruction. I developed lyphedema and chemo brain-yes that is a real thing. I lost my boobs but not my sense of humor . Through it all I was blessed with the love and support of my family, and friends. I am coming up on 5 years cancer FREE "YAY!!!" this October. I feel fortunate and grateful for every day because for some today is their last day. For me cancer is the enemy and I won't stop fighting till it is eliminated. I can't do it alone, I hope you will join me.

Cancer has affected so many people I know and love that it’s inspired me to join Relay For Life. This fundraiser is a community-based event, which means no two Relays are the same, but they all support the American Cancer Society’s mission.

Funds raised support cancer patient programs and groundbreaking research that can help save lives. This event also celebrates over 15.5 million cancer survivors nationwide. 15.5 MILLION. That’s huge. That’s why I’d love your support. Will you walk with me? And if you can’t would you be so kind as to make a donation?

Thank You Donors

Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.

Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
