Why I'm Participating in a Relay For Life Event
I know there are a lot of worthy causes to support, but I think participating in an event that helps save lives from cancer is about as worthy as it gets. That's why I decided to raise funds and walk in an American Cancer Society Relay For Life event after watching my dear friend September fight bravely against this giant. She gave her all and it just wasnt enough. She left behind so many broken hearts and my determination is that no child will lose their mother, their father again. No parent will lose their child ever again. Knowing that after her first battle where it would appear she had slain the giant, she walked that track proudly as a survivor. When the second round came to her life, I knew I would never be the same again. I will always walk the track and I will always think about her and the others who are fighting the giant. Together I want to slay this giant. We must all pick up our sling and our stone and do battle!
I lost the sweetest soul that cancer ever met. Wendee Colette was a friend, she was a sister, she was an advocate and she was a fighter. She never complained about her illness. She just fought and battled as hard as she could. Even when she thought she had no more fight left, she found a way to rise up. Sadly, the fight was too hard this year. This team is her team too and I will make sure that both beautiful ladies are honored every year through this team.
Recently, one of the most beautiful ladies I have ever known in my life was taken way too soon. She went in for normal rectal cancer screening and came out with the horrifying news she had Stage 4 Colon Cancer. With no symptoms! She fought so hard and not only that, she was a fighter for early detection and screening. Did you know most insurance companies now allow you to be screened at 45? She lost her battle and any of us who knew her will never be the same. My heart breaks just thinking about her beautiful soul, her beautiful smile, her love for people and her way of making everyone feel like they just met their best friend in the world.
Nearly everyone has been touched by cancer, either through their own personal battle or through the battle of someone they love, and this disease has taken too much from too many. I'm participating in the Relay For Life event because I know I am making a difference in the fight to end cancer by raising funds and cancer awareness.
A Relay For Life event is not only a way to join my community to fight back against cancer, but it is also a way to inspire hope by raising funds and cancer awareness to help those facing a diagnosis.
Why I'm Fundraising
By raising funds and walking in a Relay For Life event, I am participating in the American Cancer Society's lifesaving mission, and I would really appreciate your support! The funds I raise helps fund important cancer research, supports cancer patient programs and services, and goes toward other important activities that help save lives from cancer.
Why I Volunteer with the American Cancer Society
By walking in a Relay For Life event I join more than four million global volunteers who are dedicated to finishing the fight against cancer. This is my opportunity to honor the cancer survivors in my life, remember friends and family I have lost, and to raise funds to support the American Cancer Society's lifesaving mission.
Please join my team or make a donation in support of my efforts. Thank you!
Together, we WILL finish the fight!
