Like most Americans, cancer has affected my family directly. I have lost several family members to various forms of cancer, including my sister, MaryAlice Torres. I also lost a good friend, Len Darrow, to lung cancer very recently. Like many, I also have cancer survivors in my family, namely my father Ray Torres , my father-in-law Kevin Dowling, and my aunt Holly Bossart. Because of the impact cancer has had on my family, I've chosen to do something about it. I will be walking in this year's Relay for Life in remembrance of MaryAlice and Len, in celebration of all who've beaten cancer, and to offer up support to anyone in our community who is affected by cancer. That's why I need your support!
The funds I'm raising will help sustain critical research and patient services in this difficult time. Believe me, every dollar really does count, so I'm asking for your help. Please donate today; together we can accomplish anything!
This year I will again carry extra weight while I walk to represent the load cancer puts on our community's shoulders. The load will increase with the amount of donations, starting at 10 pounds for the first $500 and increasing 10 pounds for each additional $500 up to a full 50 pound pack should we raise $2500. Last year I carried 40 pounds, this year I believe we can do even better.
