October 2006 I was diagossed with breast cancer. At the time all I could think was, "I'm too busy". Along with colleagues from the Heart Association and Lung Association, I was in the middle of a campaign to eleminate all smoking in bars and restaurants in Maryland. I just did not have time for cancer! Eighten years later I'm still kicking and I bet you dont remember the last time you saw someone light up in a restaurant! (18 years ago).
I'm still here due to advances in cancer treatment, a good part do to the research conducted by the Americsn Cancer Society and other cancer research centers. I'm lucky and I know it. I, like you know loved ones, friends, family and colleagues who have died from cancer.
