My Reason to Relay
How I got involved? It went like this…I was looking for something to get involved with. I looked into a few other walks and decided on this fundraiser. Mainly because I felt that the money raise actually benefited the patients and their families. So I decided to create a team in 2012. We are the “Friends for the Fight” which appropriate as this is exactly what we are…. a group of friends that cancer has touched each of our lives.
One never knows how cancer will affect them, the usual answer it does not happen to anyone in my family or me. After we did the first relay in 2012 it was brought to my attention how many people that I know were diagnoses with cancer in my family and friends… my grandfather, my mother, my sister, my cousin, an ex uncle, and a brother in law all diagnoses with cancer. Some of them did not beat it. So these relays have so much more meaning to me now. |
