Why We are Making Strides Welcome to our Team Page! We thank all who support us in this effort. In 2002 NYSUT became a statewide sponsor of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walks. Since that time, the combined effort of NYSUT staff, members and retirees have raised over $13,000,000. Almost everyone has been touched by breast cancer in some way. Although great progress has been made in the fight to defeat this disease, there is still work to be done. In the last 20 years, the number of deaths from breast cancer has declined significantly. But thousands of women and men will still be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. That's why we continue to participate by walking and/or donating to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. As one ONSR donor said, "I can't do the walk anymore, so I do what I can by donating." That speaks for many of us.

Why We are Making Strides
Welcome to our Team Page! We thank all who support us in this effort. In 2002 NYSUT became a statewide sponsor of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walks. Since that time, the combined effort of NYSUT staff, members and retirees have raised over $13,000,000.

Today 1 of every 2 women newly diagnosed with breast cancer reaches out to the American Cancer Society for help and support. The donations our team raises will enable investment in groundbreaking breast cancer research, provide free information and services for those diagnosed with the disease including accomodations at a Hope Lodge if treatment away from home is required. Your donations also provide access to mammograms for women who cannot afford them. Many, including some of our members, have benefitted from the free lodging at a Hope Lodge while being treated away from home.
Why We Support the American Cancer Society
Saving lives of those with breast cancer starts one team, one walker, and one dollar at a time. We know that our support will ensure that if they need someone to talk to anytime of the day or night, help will be there. If your friend is losing her hair from chemo, your mother needs a ride to treatment, or a loved one needs a place to stay when treatment is far from home, they will be there to help.
