Who Is This Guy?
Hi! My name is Brian. I'm a dog dad, I am on the radio weekdays from 2-7 on NASH FM 99.5 and I'm the Operations Manager for Cumulus/Appleton-Oshkosh, overseeing NASH FM 99.5, 103.9 WVBO, 96.9 THE FOX, 1280 WNAM and 1490 WOSH.
Why I Wear Pink
Well, first of all, pink really sets off my eyes.
I wear pink in honor of my wife Heather, who passed away from metastatic breast cancer in February 2018. Heather was not only my best friend and life partner, but she's the toughest person I've ever met. She had her first heart transplant when she was 21. When she was 31, she was diagnosed with breast cancer the first time. She successfully fought the cancer, but the radiation was hard on her transplanted organs and she had to have a second heart-and-kidney transplant when she was 38. A few short years later, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer, which she fought off, but a couple years after that, her breast cancer returned -- despite having had a double mastectomy -- and the battle was too much for her.
Through all of this, Heather was the most fun person I've ever been around. She knew life was short and if she had a chance to live it, she was taking that chance. She was funny and sarcastic, a walking reality check.
And she gave back. She gave countless talks at schools, hospitals, bars, dark alleys, deer stands and anywhere else that asked. She took part in walks for the charities she cared about. If someone was going through any of the things she'd been through, she'd stop what she was doing and talk, answering any and all questions, listening and then usually giving them a hug (and she wasn't really a hugger).
So if my bestie could do all that, then I can do this. I have a daily radio show on NASH FM 99.5, and we'll talk about my wearing pink, and I'll ask for your help. I hope I can count on you to help me raise funds for the American Cancer Society as I get my pink on. Whether you do it because you're charmed by my sparkling personality, or you're inspired by Heather's story, or some other reason that's personal to you...I thank you for your help. It means more to me than I can possibly express.
