Why I Support the American Cancer Society

Why I Support the American Cancer Society

My "Why "is very personal. Cancer has affected many people I know and love that it's inspired me to join this American Cancer Society event. In 2001, my first husband was diagnosed with cancer. Our whole world changed in such a short time. Our son was barely 3 months old at the time of his diagnosis and was 11 months old when he passed. Cancer took away his chance to see his son grow up and I never want anyone to have to experience such a loss. Taking part in this event gives me the chance to make a difference by raising money for groundbreaking research and services for people dealing with cancer.

This is my way to honor Rob, as well as my Mom who is a cancer survivor and other family and friends impacted by cancer.   I'm participating to inspire hope for those facing the disease and The American Cancer Society's event to help save lives from cancer.

Funds raised support cancer patient programs and groundbreaking research that can help save lives. This event also celebrates over 15.5 million cancer survivors nationwide. 15.5 MILLION. That's huge. That's why I'd love your support. This will be my first marathon. Running in Rob’s memory & raising money for the American Cancer Society will make it even more meaningful.

If you would like to help me make a difference, please consider making a donation.  No donation is too small- every dollar counts! If you can't make a donation, you can still help me by spreading the word. Thank you for your support!

Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.

Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
