Forever Michigan Softball Fans!

We're reaching out on behalf of our team "Forever Michigan Softball Fans!" who will be taking part in the 13th Annual Michigan Softball Academy on Thursday April 28.

The event benefits the the American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" initiative. Our team has been the highest fundraising three years in a row and four out of the last five years. Last year in 2021 we raised a combined total of $14,471, in 2020 we raised $12,649 and in 2019 we raised $13,255 as a team.

We would love to continue our streak for this very worthy cause. All of the money raised goes directly to cancer and stays in Washtenaw County, Michigan. In 2018 the University of Michigan softball team became the first women’s NCAA team to raise $1,000,000 for the American Cancer Society.

During the event, volunteer team captains and their registered team members take part in a fantasy camp of sorts on Alumni Field (the Wolverines home), which is located inside the Wilpon Complex on the university’s athletic campus.

Participants spend the evening interacting with Wolverine softball student-athletes and learning the tips and tricks on how to successfully throw, hit, pitch, catch, run the bases and slide the bases. The evening concludes with a social mixer inside the Jack Roth Stadium Club located atop Michigan Stadium which includes food, drinks, a guest panel moderated by Sports Talk 1050 WTKA’s Ira Weintraub and a silent auction.

We have women on our team who have battled breast cancer and we are in awe of how they have handled it. We firmly believe in supporting them and all breast cancer survivors and ones who are dealing with it today.

We would be forever grateful if you would consider joing our team or donating.

Thanks in advance! Go Blue & Go Pink!

How Fudraising Impacts Your Community

Cancer hits far too close to home, so the funds you raise will help do the same. Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.

As of January 2022, we have invested $400 M for potentially lifesaving cancer research grants.

We have received over 250,000 calls and chats from patients and caregivers seeking support in 2021

Cancer patients benefited from ACS transportation support through our Road TO Recovery program and transportation grants in 2021, with nearly 229,000 rides provided.

Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.

Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
