How We Relay

14 years ago, Bret's cousin Sandi came to us and said she wanted to do something to honor Bret's mom (who had passed away from Leukemia in 2000). So we joined Relay For Life. We had no idea what we were in for, but 14 years later, we now have so many reasons to continue to Relay. So many friends and family who have been touched by cancer and for all of them, we will not stop until we finish this fight! cancer SUCKS!

What is Relay For Life? Is it a run? HECK NO! It's an overnight community event where participants have a member of their team walking on the track at all times (hence the name 'relay'). We have fun and games all night to keep us going, we have a DJ who keeps us dancing all night and we raise money to help fund a cure for cancer. Why do we relay overnight? Because cancer doesn't sleep so for one night, niether will we! Relay is hard, no doubt, but it's NOTHING compared to what a cancer patient faces from the day they hear the words 'you have cancer'. Relay For Life is more than a fundraiser; in my opinion, it's a life changing event that brings the whole community together to prove that we will not let cancer win! It's also a time when we honor survivors and caregivers, and remember loved ones lost. Together, we can stop this disease. That's why I'd like your help.

Here's how the American Cancer Society uses donations to help save lives:

-Supporting innovative cancer research, lifesaving screenings, and treatment (Monies given for research have resulted in 47 researchers being given the Nobel prize for their work. NO OTHER NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION CAN SAY THAT!)

-Offering 24/7 Lifeline for free, comprehensive cancer information, patient navigators, health insurance information, clinical trial matching, or just a friendly ear.

-Providing crucial patient care programs like Hope LodgeŽ offers patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when treatment is far from home.

So weask from the bottom of ourhearts that you please support usand the American Cancer Society by making a donation. Thanks so much!

Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.

1.42 million in 2019

Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.

Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
