Summer 2011, two friends, Madelyn and Alicia, walked their first Relay for Life in Hercules, CA. They walked because cancer has touched their lives. From that brief experience, Madelyn, Alicia, and, another friend, Rachel decided to form their own Relay for Life fundraising team to help fight cancer. With help from Jackie and Kathleen, we started to make this goal a reality. With the love and support of our family and friends, our team started supporting Relay for Life in July 2012.
Our team is Lakas Laban Ligtas. Those three Tagalog (Filipino) words mean Strength Fight Survive. Together we have Strength; together we Fight; and together we Survive.
We are making a difference by teaming up to participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. Many of us have been touched by cancer through our friends, our families, and personally. We are raising funds to help fund research so we can find a cure to cancer. On July 17 - 18, we are going to walk for 24 hours at Pacifica's Terra Nova High School to honor cancer survivors and caregivers, to remember those who died of cancer, and to help fight cancer. At the event, our team will camp out overnight and take turns walking around the track for 24 hours to raise money and awareness to help the American Cancer Society create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

Why We Relay
