Why I Wear Pink

Larry was born in Illinois and moved to Meridian, Mississippi when he was 10-years-old. After graduating from Mississippi State University in 1995 with a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering he moved to Jackson, Mississippi. He has been working with Ergon Asphalt and Emulsions in the Flowood area for the last 12 years and is serves as the Regional Vice President for Sales and Marketing in the Southeast Region. Larry and his wife, Tracy of 24 years, have 2 children (Landon, 20 and Ansley, 15) and reside in Brandon.

His mother-in-law is a survivor of breast cancer. She was diagnosed in 1996 right before Larry and his wife were  married. He shares, "It was a shock to all of us. One of the things I remember about her fight against cancer was her positive attitude she had every day. She didn't let it get her down even though I am sure it was weighing on her especially with her daughter getting married. The impact for us has been that me and my wife both go for regular physicals and check-ups. Early detection is key."  As a Real Men Wear Pink Ambassador, Larry is looking forward to bringing awareness of how he can impact lives by raising money for research to cure cancer.

Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.

Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
