Making Strides of Indian River

Live Life

My dear friends,

I am thrilled to share with you all that another year has gone by and I continue to be free of Cancer.  Not a day goes by that I do not acknowledge and give Gratitude to the Universe for the gift of this journey.

We continue to embrace our every day and are fully enjoying our retired life. When people ask, “What do you do all day?”  the answer is generally the same, “We’re are always doing something!” (albeit at a slower pace).

Living in Florida has been great for both Michael and me.  Not being cold has done wonders for both of us physically, mentally and emotionally.

In the past year we’ve done our share of traveling and spending quality time with family and friends. We had a wonderful time in New York last October as we celebrated the marriage of Andrew and Cindy aka Cindrew and embraced our Modern Family with love and admiration. The visit was amazing and as always being with all our girls-including Liana (Ky and Juls stepsister) was phenomenal. Hanging out together and celebrating life in all its richness is such a testament to what living and enjoying life really is all about.

Post wedding, I stayed on a few extra days to have some Mom/Julia time. We had a blast. I enjoyed our quality time and the crisp Fall weather. Julia has expanded her Massage Therapy business and is doing exceptionally well. She offers massage in her Studio, in her Client’s homes, as well as Corporate In-office. She is so gifted. I am proud to say that she has built a great practice and has many steady customers who (like me) rave about her. Check her out here: https://cindrewsanctuary.com/practitioner-2.

November brought us to Palm Beach Gardens to celebrate a Cousins weekend with Michaels family. It was a wonderful time, we so enjoyed connecting with family from near and far. We celebrated two of our Aunts turning 90! We ALL danced the night away with a live DJ under Cousin Alice’s Disco ball.

In February Michael and I drove to the West coast (of Florida) to visit with Cousin’s Ellie and Tom on Sanibel Island. An AMAZING visit. We spent time looking through old photo albums- remembering, relearning how to play Spite and Malice, ate delicious meals and enjoyed the spectacular ocean and beachcombing.

In early March, I combined a quick trip to California to visit my dear friend who has been dancing with Cancer, with a visit to see Kyra and Shane. I rented a car (yes, ALL wheel drive) and drove from Sacramento to Tahoe…in March…during one of the WORST snow seasons EVER! Prayed the whole way there that the roads would not be closed. I made it safely to Kyra and spent the day with her at http://playdatepreschool.com. I had the BEST day hanging out. Spending time with the kids, hanging outside, reading, painting, playing balloon volleyball, the fun lasted all day. I was SO in my happy place. Kyra is in her element she a gifted and amazing teacher. The children are fortunate to be graced with her positive energy.

In addition to her “day” job, Kyra is also a virtual wellness coach. She runs a platform through Facebook and a private group through Instagram.  Check her out  https://www.instagram.com/kyflow_fit/ The objective of this program is to build accountability for wellness and lifestyle for her clients and community. Michael and I benefit daily from Kyra’s program and the fitness streaming platform she has partnered with. We have committed to a daily Yoga practice which has become a total gamechanger for our overall health and fitness.

One of the greatest highlights of the year was Mother’s Day weekend when BOTH girls came for a visit. We all had a wonderful time, spending time with Suzi and Ron, Mimi Barbara and Poppa Stephan, enjoying the beach and eating fabulous meals AND desserts!

I made a totally spontaneous trip to NY the end of July to see the girls. Kyra was in the area for a wedding and Julia’s birthday. I simply couldn’t refuse when they asked me to come celebrate LIFE with them. The visit was absolutely AWESOME!!!

Michael and I traveled out West the end of August. It was an open-ended trip and we ended up traveling for 16 days! We spent time in Tahoe, Sedona, Fountain Hills, Reno, Tahoe, Roseville, Berkley, San Jose. The journey was fabulous.

Making Strides will always be important to us and we hope you will consider supporting team LIVE LIFE as we make Strides to continue raising funds to find a cure for this dis ease.

Our walk is Saturday October 13, 2019 at Riverside Park, Under the Oaks- Vero Beach.  Please join us if you are local and know that, as always, I am filled with gratitude for each of you and for your continued support and contributions. We truly are making a difference. There REALLY IS hope. I am living proof.

xoxo

Welcome to our Team Page. We've formed a team because this cause is important to us. We want to help. And walking and raising money in our local American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is the best way we can do that. We all have different reasons for participating but we share a determination to help save lives from breast cancer.

There are so many ways that the money our team raises helps. It’s helping fund innovative research. It's providing free information for people dealing with the disease. It’s providing rides to treatment and places to stay for people who have to seek treatment far from home. In short, our money is helping save lives. Consider donating to our team and helping advance the cause.

How We Support the American Cancer Society

Of course we walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. And we solicit donations from family, friends, and other supporters. But we also schedule fundraisers in lead-up to the big event. Bake-sales, car washes, and countless other types of events. And we promote those on social media, through Facebook and Twitter, by word of mouth, and through flyers at work and around the neighborhood. The success of fundraising events depends on two things - hard work and getting the word out. And we're out to do both. Keep an eye out for our fundraising events.
