Fighting Cancer to the Coast

Doug's Dirty Dozen

Hello,

We would like to introduce you to Doug's Dirty Dozen. This is an amazing group of individuals who have come together in support of a common cause: the fight against cancer.

Our trip out to Oregon for the prestigious 199-mile Hood to Coast relay has been postponed to 2022 because one of our star members recently heard the words that no one wants to hear ‘You have cancer.’ Max Haensel received the news on February 2, 2021 that he has advanced metastatic testicular cancer. He is now in the midst of the battle of his life, but Max is a fighter and most importantly, he is a winner. We are all confident that he will succeed in this fight.

Twenty-five years ago, we would not have been as confident saying this. Over the years, tremendous advances have been made in the treatment of testicular cancer, and these developments are giving Max a fighting chance in his high-risk case. The American Cancer Society has helped lead this charge and we are so grateful for all that they do. The amount of support that they have given us during this traumatic time has been immeasurable they are fantastic.

Over the years, we have seen this disease up close, and it has taken several of those whom we loved. We have also witnessed many who have endured the fight against cancer and emerged on top. This gives us hope that cures and treatments are improving every day. We want to do what we can to help accelerate these efforts. The Haensel family has participated in nine Hood to Coast races and have led the efforts to raise over $400,000 in the fight against cancer.

Even though we are not participating in this year’s race, our efforts to support the American Cancer Society are not pausing. In fact, we are as committed as ever to support this great cause. Please join us in our fight against cancer and donate today. Your contribution would be immensely appreciated.

Warm regards,
Doug’s Dirty Dozen

Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.

Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
