Our Vision is a world free from the pain and suffering of cancer.

And we're on a mission to save lives and celebrate life.  Every single day.

The American Cancer Society, in collaboration with Legacy Global Sports and the Henry Ford Cancer Institute, is thrilled to be hosting the Hockey Fights Cancer Tournament.

The Coaches vs. Cancer initiative leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of coaches nationwide. The program seeks to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living among students, faculty and staff, fans, and the community at large.

Remembering our Hockey Heroes....

The American Cancer Society is committed to our vision for a world free from the pain and suffering that cancer brings to our families, friends and loved ones.  In 2016 we lost two dear friends of the hockey community here in Michigan. Please join us in honoring the lives of both John Stansik and Ray Kraemer, whose love of the game, passion for their players and amazing support of youth hockey families will never be forgotten.

John Stansik, owner of the Arctic Pond Arena, sponsor of the Victory Honda Hockey Club, MAHA board member, and Vice President of Hockey Has Heart, passed away in March of 2016.  John will be remembered as a selfless man who dedicated countless hours through his work with numerous hockey entities, and had a postive impact on hundreds, if not thousands of hockey families and players, coaches, employees and business partners.  John will be remembered for his enduring kindness, sense of hunor and devotion to the game we all love.

Ray Kraemer, the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association’s vice president and director of adult hockey and longtime MAHA board member, passed away in November 2016 after a battle with cancer. He was 71. Kraemer, a Clinton Township native, spent more than 60 years with the sport of hockey, serving various coaching, administrative and leadership roles to help grow the game at the state and national levels.  “The Michigan hockey community has lost an impressive individual,” said MAHA president George Atkinson in a statement. “Ray Kraemer meant a great deal to us, and he meant a great deal to the sport he cherished so dearly. The world won’t be the same place without him.”

It is our hope that all participating teams participating in the 2019 Legacy Fights Cancer Tournament will reflect on how this disease has impacted their own families and hockey community, and join us in raising funds to support the work of the American Cancer Society; funding groundbreaking research, and providing critical programs and services to those facing a cancer diagnosis.  Sign up your team today!
