What is Courageous Kids Day?
This amazing event provides “a day away from cancer” free of charge to nearly 600 young cancer patients and their families from throughout the state of California. Courageous Kids Day was founded in 1989 in partnership with California’s Great America and takes place annually on Mother’s Day. It’s an extra-special, fun-packed day for the courageous kids and their families, allowing them to forget some of that stress and have fun together; a day of enjoying amusement rides, a picnic lunch, arts & crafts, family portraits, photographs with local celebrities, and various activities.

Cancer doesn’t fight fair at any age, but perhaps no cancer is more emotionally devastating than those that occur in children. The fear, uncertainty, and stress these young patients and families face can hardly be measured, but the progress the American Cancer Society has made in seeking new cures for cancer can.
The American Cancer Society is currently supporting 68 active, multi-year research grants for a total of approximately $37 million specific to childhood cancer. We currently support more than 750 active grants totaling more than $400 million in research that has implications for all cancers, including childhood cancers. The American Cancer Society is deeply committed to funding more research, including pediatric cancer research, that will find new answers that will benefit every child with cancer.
