Walt Disney World® Marathon Weekend 2022

Coastie Family

On January 6, 2022, we will be completing a 5k race at Disney World.  We are running for Team DetermiNation in honor of Thomas Orshall and Matt Kettler and in memory of Joe Kettler, Mark Laurencelle, and Hal Orshall.

Most people have been affected by cancer in one way or another.  Our family is no different.  We currently have 2 family members fighting the fight with cancer.  Craig’s dad, Thomas Orshall, is battling bone cancer and prostate cancer and have been for the past 10 of years.  Tracey’s uncle, Matt Kettler, is battling Esophagus Cancer and has been for the past 4 years.

In the past 11 years, we have lost family and friends to cancer.  In March of 2010, we said our final goodbyes to Tracey’s uncle, Joe Kettler who lost his fight to colon cancer.  In December of 2010, we said our final goodbyes to Tracey’s uncle, Mark Laurencelle, who also lost his fight to skin cancer. In November of 2014, we said our final goodbyes to Craig’s uncle, Hal Orshall, who lost his fight to cancer.

A little bit about the Orshall family…Craig is currently active duty U.S. Coast Guard and for the last 20 years been stationed at Air Station Clearwater, FL, Aviation Logistics Center Elizabeth City, NC, Air Station Atlantic City, NJ and Air Station Detroit, MI three times. Craig’s first time in Detroit, he met Tracey and her daughter Natalie. Craig and Tracey have two more children, Savannah and Hunter, who were born in North Carolina.

Funds raised will support cancer patient programs and groundbreaking research that can help save lives.  This event also celebrates over 15.5 million cancer survivors nationwide.  15.5 MILLION! That’s huge. That’s why we’d love your support.

If you can, please donate to help us raise money for the American Cancer Society.  All donations are tax-deductible.  We are hoping to raise a minimum of $2,400 by December 15th.

Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.

Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
