Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Team Molly

This team was formed because of an amazing friend/sister who was taken too soon due to metastatic breast cancer.  Molly was first diagnosed at the age of 32 when her son was just 2 years old.  She endured countless surgeries, chemo and grueling radiation, all while trying to be the best mom possible to her precious toddler.  Her disease returned as a metastatic cancer involving her bones and liver.  This was devastating.  Molly lived longer than her medical professionals anticipated but to watch her fight was pure agony.  She put herself through so much pain and sickness for the hope of just one more day with her family.  She refused to give up.

While undergoing treatment, Molly told her friend Alison that she'd like to do a 5k.  Alison knew that Molly loved Disney and didn't want it to be just any 5k.  So 5 years ago, Molly and Alison flew to Disney for the Princess 5k.  It was a magical trip.  Sadly, that was the only time Molly's body allowed her to make the trip.  Alison has been going back as much as possible for any runDisney events she can while Molly cheered her on from home. In February 2023, Molly's friends Jenny and Alison ran and fundraised for ACS for runDisney Princess weekend in Molly's honor. Molly gained her angel wings just 2 weeks before the event.

In February 2024, Alison is going back to Princess weekend and is thrilled to have a team of family and friends, including Molly's sisters!!  We are all raising funds to stop cancer!  Cancer has touched all of us in some way.  We all want to stop this disease in its tracks.  We'll spend the next few months fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.

The money our team raises helps the American Cancer Society in so many ways. It's helping fund innovative research. It's providing free information for people dealing with the disease. It's providing rides to treatment and places to stay for people who have to seek treatment far from home. In short, our money is helping save lives. Consider donating to our team and helping advance the cause.

How Fundraising Impacts Your Community

Cancer hits far too close to home, so the funds you raise will help do the same. Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.

As of January 2022, we have invested $400 M for potentially lifesaving cancer research grants.

We have received over 250,000 calls and chats from patients and caregivers seeking support in 2021

Cancer patients benefited from ACS transportation support through our Road TO Recovery program and transportation grants in 2021, with nearly 229,000 rides provided.
