TCS New York City Marathon

There for Claire

In January 2020, our mom was diagnosed with Grade IV Glioblastoma, a very aggressive brain tumor. The initial outlook was grim, but we have been so lucky to have her with us for these past four years. As a family and with the support of many of our friends, we have raised over $50,000 in the name of cancer research.

As some of you know, my mom has entered a new chapter in her diagnosis of Glioblastoma. On February 16th, the day before her birthday, we received the news that her tumor has returned once again, only 6 months after last recurrence in August of 2023. Glioblastoma is a devastating and terminal illness, and because of its rare nature and aggressiveness, there is no FDA-approved standard of care for recurrence. There is no playbook and no efficacious treatment. Research is our best hope. And this research can’t happen without funding and fundraising efforts like this.

After three Chicago Marathons, we have decided to take our talents to the 2024 New York City Marathon, and we need your help. Please help us meet our fundraising goal by donating what you can.

How Fundraising Impacts Your Community

Cancer hits far too close to home, so the funds you raise will help do the same. Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.

As of January 2022, we have invested $400 M for potentially lifesaving cancer research grants.

We have received over 250,000 calls and chats from patients and caregivers seeking support in 2021

Cancer patients benefited from ACS transportation support through our Road TO Recovery program and transportation grants in 2021, with nearly 229,000 rides provided.

Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.

Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
