Grandmas Marathon and Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon
Freedom Running Club
Welcome to our Team Page. Chloe: Running has always been a major part of my life. Part of what has always made running so special to me is the special connection that my mom and I have developed over the years because of running. Since starting my running journey, my mom has always supported me in all of my endeavors, including taking time out her extremely busy schedule to attend meets in the U.S. while living overseas in South Korea. In addition to supporting my wild running dreams, my mom has also always been active member in supporting all of the teams I was a part of, and coached other runners to find success. In March of 2023, my mom was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer, and still has managed to continuously support me, as well as some of her other runners in reaching their goals. As a younger runner, I was always asked why I run, and the reason has always been the same, "I run for the people who have always helped me get to the point I am in life today, the people who are unable to run, and myself." Running now, while I will will always run for these people, I will always run for my mom, and I felt there was not greater honor than to dedicate my first ever marathon to her, and to anyone else with cancer, who also is fighting. The money our team raises helps the American Cancer Society in so many ways. It's helping fund innovative research. It's providing free information for people dealing with the disease. It's providing rides to treatment and places to stay for people who have to seek treatment far from home. In short, our money is helping save lives. Consider donating to our team and helping advance the cause.
