2024 Bank of America Chicago Marathon
Fulghum's Fight (GlioGang)
Welcome to our team page. We've formed this team because cancer has touched all of us in some way and we want to help curb it for others in the future. Consider joining our team or supporting us in any way! Cancer sucks. It's plain and simple. It takes young lives away, it generates physical, emotional and mental tolls on people. It can rob even the healthiest and strongest friends and family we have. As most of you know, Wyatt was diagnosed in October of 2018 with Stage 4 Glioblastoma (Brain Cancer). After a year of fighting and recovering, Wyatt and I ran the Marine Corps Marathon in 2019 and finished in under 5 hours - a true kick Cancer in the butt moment. Or in plain words, Wyatt told Cancer to "pound sand." He continued to fight the cancer battle and proved his doctors otherwise after beating the "months" life expectancy he had. Unfortunately, Wyatt passed peacefully in September of 2020 after almost 2 years of cherished memories alongside friends and family. His memory lives on. Wyatt and I had talked about Gliogang and GBM Journey - a way to raise awareness for the fight against Glioblastoma and Cancer. And now 5 years after his miraculous finish across the MCM finish line, we've put together a team to cross the Chicago Marathon finish line together in his honor. The funds I'm raising will sustain critical research and provide services for people trying to cope with their cancer experience. Believe me, every dollar really does count, so I'm asking you to please donate any amount, big or small. If you can't donate - shoot me a text of encouragement or a memory of Wyatt - that alone will be fun to get through training. Together, we can make a big difference in the fight against cancer.
