Making Strides of North Texas

Here For The Boobs

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for taking the time to come to this page and learn more about this amazing event. I am putting together a team to walk in the Making Strides event on October 19th at Klyde Warren Park in Dallas, TX! If you cannot make the walk, please join our team and keep up to date on our progress!

As many of you might know, my sister is my best friend and means the world to me. Her diagnosis of Stage 2 Breast Cancer rocked our world and put us all in a place we never thought we would be. I wanted to put together a team help the American Cancer Society and the amazing work that they do and of course, to let my sister know she has A TON of support and people who truly care about ending this disease.

BACKGROUND

My sister, Eli, was accepted to Naval Academy in 2010 and spent 4 years getting her diploma, being on the pole vault team and training for what was to come next. Once she graduated in 2014,  Eli served our country for 5 years. She has been deployed 3 times and earned her way to LT! She transitioned out of the Navy in July 2019 and was quickly hired by Amazon Web Services to run a data center! About a month into her new job, we learned the news she has Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Cancer (AKA Breast Cancer). She has had to undergo fertility treatments, countless blood testing and is starting chemo mid-September. Through this tough time, she only shows strength and positivity and is ready to kick cancer in the ass!!

I am walking for my sister and my grandma. We hope you will join us in the fight to get rid of this terrible disease and to do everything we can to help the women and men who are fighting right now.

THANK YOU! WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!

How We Support the American Cancer Society

Of course we walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. And we solicit donations from family, friends, and other supporters. But we also schedule fundraisers in lead-up to the big event. Bake-sales, car washes, and countless other types of events. And we promote those on social media, through Facebook and Twitter, by word of mouth, and through flyers at work and around the neighborhood. The success of fundraising events depends on two things - hard work and getting the word out. And we're out to do both. Keep an eye out for our fundraising events.

Welcome to our Team Page. We've formed a team because this cause is important to us. We want to help. And walking and raising money in our local American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is the best way we can do that. We all have different reasons for participating but we share a determination to help save lives from breast cancer.

There are so many ways that the money our team raises helps. It’s helping fund innovative research. It's providing free information for people dealing with the disease. It’s providing rides to treatment and places to stay for people who have to seek treatment far from home. In short, our money is helping save lives. Consider donating to our team and helping advance the cause.
