Why We are Making Strides

TEAM: Together Everyone Achieves More

I would like to dedicate my page to all of my team helpers.  First and foremost is my family who continually stand by me in assisting and attending every event.  My husband, Tony, who is known as "my rock" has been by my side from the moment I was diagnosed 20 years ago.  My two sons, Tony and Vincent and their wives, Jeni and Brenda also deserve accolades for their understanding and dedication to the cause.  Our family company, Packaging & More, hosts and annual trade show that directly supports my team.  This contribution each of the past nine years, is instrumental to help reach my team goal.

Each year, I try to attempt a new and unique fundraising opportunity.  Special thanks and recognition goes to Rachel Baboian, Liz Lanni, Pamela Jaroubchi, Naomi Salvatore, Carol Mangiarelli, Stephanie Caparo, Kim Bgonette and my right hand assistant, Judy Tallo, who worked tirelessly with me in this year's memorable and successful event, "Stride in Style". A record crowd of 50 women enjoyed the fashion show put on by Ann Taylor and Fat Face of Garden City with breast cancer survivors and Real Men Wear Pink modeling all the fashions.  We are very happy to report that over $44,000 was raised at this event.  We already have secured Kirkbrae Country Club for next year.  Be sure to mark your calendar for Thursday, June 18, 2020 and stay tuned for our annoucement of the theme for our 9th annual women's night out!

My supporters also include many high school students and teachers, who help the team by purchasing pink ribbon cards as well as sponsoring dress down days.  Promoting breast cancer education and awareness has always been one of my personal goals, and working with the young people of our State allows me to achieve this goal.  Beyond these many schools, there are a number of businesses that also deserve to be acknowledged.  Knead Donuts, J Crew of Garden City, and Providence Bagel are just a few of many local businesses that have opened their doors and allowed me to host a fundraiser at their establishment.  Be sure to visit Providence Bagel during the month of October as they "GO PINK" for my team. Also, Knead Donut will again be doing a pink frosted donut in support of my team!

Finally, I owe a big THANK YOU to all my family and friends who continually support my team with their time and money.   Please know your mere presence at even one event brings me such joy.  I look forward to seeing you at one of my upcoming fundraisers in the next few months, and please check your email for events both new and old.

I also would like to encourage you to sign up and walk with me and my family on Sunday, October 20. Please note that this year's walk is being held in Providence and wil begin at 9 AM.  You will find taking a couple hours out of your busy schedule can be quite the wonderful and worthwhile experience!

Welcome to our Team Page. We've formed a team because this cause is important to us. We want to help. And walking and raising money in our local American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is the best way we can do that. We all have different reasons for participating but we share a determination to help save lives from breast cancer.

There are so many ways that the money our team raises helps. It’s helping fund innovative research. It's providing free information for people dealing with the disease. It’s providing rides to treatment and places to stay for people who have to seek treatment far from home. In short, our money is helping save lives. Consider donating to our team and helping advance the cause.

How We Support the American Cancer Society

Of course we walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. And we solicit donations from family, friends, and other supporters. But we also schedule fundraisers in lead-up to the big event. Bake-sales, car washes, and countless other types of events. And we promote those on social media, through Facebook and Twitter, by word of mouth, and through flyers at work and around the neighborhood. The success of fundraising events depends on two things - hard work and getting the word out. And we're out to do both. Keep an eye out for our fundraising events.
