Donna's Breast Friends

My page is in honor of my courageous cousin, Donna Villalobos and it is now in 'memory' of her.  She was diagnosed in 2008 and lost her fight with many health adversities, passed away Friday, September 25, 2020.  I have never seen resilience and positivity through such difficult health barriers. My cousin was a true warrior. When I say warrior, I mean STRONG WILLED, COURAGEOUS, ONE OF A KIND WOMAN - WITH A PURPOSEFUL POSITIVE MINDSET..AN INTELLIGENT W A R R I O R!!!  You never heard her complain. Sure she had questions but she always looked ast the bright side and this was even after losing her leg to diabetes. I don't know if I could/would be so strong. Donna lived every day with a beautiful spirit and you never saw her without a smile. No matter what she was going through, she wanted to know "how are YOU, doing"?  She always puts others before herself and that was easy to see as she supported her neighbors and even their children.  I hope she realized how much she truly was loved and admired. I tried to tell her as much as I could. We were very close and with technology, I could IM her every other day since we were a state apart. I believe she knew how much she was loved!  :)  Please continue to pray for my family. She is missed greatly...

Having a Making Strides team gives me the chance to make a difference and to honor my cousin and all those touched by breast cancer by raising funds for groundbreaking research, and  FREE services for people dealing with breast cancer.  I believe that there will come a day where the pain caused by breast cancer is a thing of the past. And until it arrives, I'm walking to INSPIRE HOPE to those facing the disease and raising money for the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event to HELP SAVE LIVES from breast cancer. Please join Donna's Breast Friends or start your own team in honor or memory of someone you love. I will continue raising money in Donna's memory to fund the future of research so we can find a cure.

Why I Support the American Cancer Society

Donna utilized some of the many services the American Cancer Society (ACS) offers. In 2008, in FL where she lives, she attended classes on make-up and lotions to use, and hats and wigs to help her through her journey of recovery.  ACS also provides free lodging at Hope Lodge for patients and families as they are receive treatment.  These services cannot be possible without the donations of generous people like you.  ACS also takes important steps to reduce their risk of breast cancer or find it early when it is easiest to treat.  They are investing in innovative research to find, prevent, and treat breast cancer.

I have signed up to lead this team or my cousin and I will walk and fundraise for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. I hope you will consider joining Donna's Breast Friends team and/or make a donation in support of our efforts.   Together, we can make a difference!  Love, Yoli

How Fudraising Impacts Your Community

Cancer hits far too close to home, so the funds you raise will help do the same. Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.

As of January 2022, we have invested $71 M for potentially lifesaving breast cancer research grants.

We have received over 250,000 calls and chats from patients and caregivers seeking support in 2021

Cancer patients benefited from ACS transportation support through our Road TO Recovery program and transportation grants in 2021, with nearly 229,000 rides provided.

Welcome to our Team Page. We've formed a team because this cause is important to us. We want to help. And walking and raising money in our local American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is the best way we can do that. We all have different reasons for participating but we share a determination to help save lives from breast cancer.

There are so many ways that the money our team raises helps. It’s helping fund innovative research. It's providing free information for people dealing with the disease. It’s providing rides to treatment and places to stay for people who have to seek treatment far from home. In short, our money is helping save lives. Consider donating to our team and helping advance the cause.

How We Support the American Cancer Society

Of course we walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. And we solicit donations from family, friends, and other supporters. But we also schedule fundraisers in lead-up to the big event. Bake-sales, car washes, and countless other types of events. And we promote those on social media, through Facebook and Twitter, by word of mouth, and through flyers at work and around the neighborhood. The success of fundraising events depends on two things - hard work and getting the word out. And we're out to do both. Keep an eye out for our fundraising events.
