Welcome to our Team Page!! We are a group of women, with our families & friends, who share a common experience - the diagnosis of Breast Cancer. We used to be part of a Breast Cancer Support group where we provide each other with comfort, knowledge, friendship, caring, support and a safe place where we can discuss our fears, our pain, or anything else that presents itself along this journey. Many of us have become life long friends.
Healing Hearts are walking in Strides because it is our way of turning our cancer experience into something positive - it is our way of giving back. Most have benefited from ACS programs including Look Good Feel Better, Reach to Recovery, Road to Recovery, and most of us have benefitted from the American Cancer Society's research to find, prevent, treat and cure breast cancer.
We walk because we want to see an end to this disease. Over the last several years we have lost TOO MANY friends to breast cancer. Our dear friends Cheryl, Elsie, Kirby, Ruth Ann, Sheila, Pat, Joyce and Susan who all fought theirillness for so many years with dignity and courage. This should not happen!! We walk so that there are no more battles lost to cancer. We walk for our daughters, our granddaughters and for all women. We walk to Celebrate Survivorship. Making Strides Again Breast Cancer is more than just the name of a walk; it represents the progress being made in the fight against breast cancer. Nothing can describe the hope that is inspired by walking with others who share a passion for ending this disease. Nearly everyone has been touched by breast cancer in some way - hope for a world without the disease starts with us. We've decided to show our support and make a difference by walking as a team in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Hope starts with one walker and one dollar at a time.
