Welcome to The Boob Heads Team Page! Almost everyone has been touched by breast cancer in some way, so a group of friends decided over 15 years ago to make a difference by raising money, and awareness by walking in our local breast cancer walk. We joined the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer beause joining them gives us the power to make a difference and fight back against this disease.
Since our team started, 4 of our members have battled and won the fight against breast cancer. We also have friends and family who have lost the battle or are currently fighting this disease. Many have won the fight, but some have not.
We have again accepted the challenge this year (2023) to raise funds to support the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer movement in its efforts to END BREAST CANCER FOREVER.
We readily join them to envision a future where our children no longer live with the threat of breast cancer and where everyone has a fair and just opportunity to prevent, find, treat, and survive this disease. By supporting the Making Strides movement, we help ensure the American Cancer Society can continue fighting for that same vision.
We want to remember and honor many friends and relatives who are breast cancer fighters and survivors or have lost the fight. A few of those friends and loved ones are Irma Louise Hathcote Sartain (Sharon Kipp’s paternal grandmother and her inspiration for starting the team), Cindy Walton, Jeanne Lollar, Patti Ingram, Debra Carmichael Ballard, Kim Byrd Lance, Melanee Lindsey, Charline Lawrence, Lisa Turk, Martha Ham, Stephanie Rice, Nancy Brown, Collie McGinty, Mary Jane Sassaman, Vicki Polk, Lisa Viator, Luanne Bryan Jones, Lezette Thomason, Dorcas Sheffield, Nina Sartain Turner, Linda Sartain Johnson, Emily Sartain Dickerson. Our list grows each year as more women we know and love are affected by breast cancer. We all walk because we've been affected by breast cancer in some way; and because the Making Strides event gives us the power to make a difference and fight back.
Every day, the American Cancer Society helps people take steps to reduce their risk of breast cancer or find it early when it is easiest to treat. They provide free information and services when and where people need it throughout their journey to get well. They are investing in groundbreaking research to find, prevent, treat, and cure breast cancer, and are working to ensure access to mammograms for women who need them. The money we raise is helping save lives with the ACS’s support services and lifesaving research.
The Boob Heads are true FUNdraisers by soliciting donations from family, friends, and other supporters. We also schedule fundraisers to lead up to the big walk event in the fall. These events are promoted on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/TheBoobHeads, other social media, by word of mouth, and through flyers at workplaces and around neighborhoods. The success of fundraising depends on two things: hard work and getting the word out. We’re ready again this year to do both! Keep an eye out for our fundraising events, or better yet please Join Our Team, The Boob Heads and FUNdraise and walk with us this fall, OR Donate to our cause today! The Boob Heads, http://www.Facebook.com/TheBoobHeads
This is our opportunity to honor breast cancer survivors, remember people we have lost, and help raise funds for groundbreaking research as well as information and services for people fighting breast cancer. We believe that what we are doing today will mean that breast cancer will never steal another year from anyone’s life. This is our opportunity to join our community and fight back against breast cancer, but also a way to inspire hope by raising funds and awareness. Together, we can help fund the future of breast cancer research and programs for our loved ones today and for the next generation to come.

Thank you for fueling the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer.
Cancer hits far too close to home, so the funds you raise will help do the same. Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.
As of January 2022, we have invested $71 M for potentially lifesaving breast cancer specific research grants.
We have received over 250,000 calls and chats from patients and caregivers seeking support in 2021
Cancer patients benefited from ACS transportation support through our Road TO Recovery program and transportation grants in 2021, with nearly 229,000 rides provided.
Many thanks to our generous sponsors for fueling the American Cancer Society's fight against breast cancer.

Welcome to our Team Page. We've formed a team because this cause is important to us. We want to help. And walking and raising money in our local American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is the best way we can do that. We all have different reasons for participating but we share a determination to help save lives from breast cancer.
There are so many ways that the money our team raises helps. It’s helping fund innovative research. It's providing free information for people dealing with the disease. It’s providing rides to treatment and places to stay for people who have to seek treatment far from home. In short, our money is helping save lives. Consider donating to our team and helping advance the cause.
How We Support the American Cancer Society
Of course we walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. And we solicit donations from family, friends, and other supporters. But we also schedule fundraisers in lead-up to the big event. Bake-sales, car washes, and countless other types of events. And we promote those on social media, through Facebook and Twitter, by word of mouth, and through flyers at work and around the neighborhood. The success of fundraising events depends on two things - hard work and getting the word out. And we're out to do both. Keep an eye out for our fundraising events.
