Why We are Making Strides Welcome to our Team Page! Almost everyone has been touched by breast cancer in some way, so we've decided to make a difference by walking and raising money in our local American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. Neal and Jana have been participating in "Making Strides" since around the second year. But they've been dealing with breast cancer for longer than that. Jana was first diagnosed 29 years ago. The second diagnosis came two months after they were married and the last one was after she'd gone eight years "cancer free." She's been blessed with good results, but they plan to keep fighting until EVERYONE is okay! Today, there is more hope than ever for people touched by breast cancer. However, there is still much work to be done to promote early detection and to help those impacted by the disease. Treatments are difficult, and we look forward to the day no one has to deal with this.
Although it is less common, men can still get breast cancer, because all adult humans are at risk to some degree. And even when men aren't the patients, they are very, very often the husbands, fathers, brothers,or friends of of those with the disease, so it hurts them, too. Either way, they are not forgotten in this fight.

To help make a difference, once again we're raising funds. The American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is a noncompetitive walk supporting the American Cancer Society's unique mission to fight cancer on four fronts: research, education, advocacy, and service programs.
One woman in eight gets breast cancer, but the disease also impacts everyone who loves her. We walk in support of Jana's fellow breast cancer patients, in memory of too many good women already lost to this terrible disease, and most of all for the little girls and young women out there, in hopes that they and their loved ones will enjoy long lives without having to worry about breast cancer.
