Even though we all have our own reasons for joining Making Strides, we'll take down breast cancer because we're in it together and as a team of Dragon Boat Paddlers, we mean business. Our team is fundraising for the American Cancer Society's support services and lifesaving research. Pittsburgh Hearts of Steel is an active group of breast cancer survivors that support each other through the physical challenge of dragon boat racing. When we get together to practice or race, not only do we motivate and encourage each other to paddle harder and better, we are also getting together to encourage and support each other in our cancer journeys. Some of those journeys are over 20 years and some are just out of diagnosis now. No matter when we heard those words that we had cancer, we became survivors and team mates for life.
