Making Strides of Baltimore

Babe's Brigade

On February 11th, 2024, Super Bowl Sunday, we were sitting at our dear friends Megan and Brian's house, getting together so the kids can entertain each other and we can catch up and watch the football game!  Megan and Brian had just got back from a great trip to Mexico, when Megan advised us that on her trip, she felt a lump in her breast.   This amazing mom has just had 3 kids in less then 4 years, and was still nursing her baby, so we were all hoping that it had to do with being away from him for a few days and not nursing.

The next day, Megan was able to get in to see her doctor, and was quickly sent for a mammogram and ultrasound, where she was notified that this lump was not her friend and she had to be back the next day for a biposy. She goes in for the biopsy, and got the official, life changing, and scariest results on Feb 14th- she has Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

We have a group girls text, where Megan bravely shared the news throughout those days.  It was earth shattering enough for us...this cannot be happening...she is only 31...she has 3 young kids... what the hell. I cannot even imagine how hearing that news was for her. This is not fair.  What can we do to help her?

Megan is one of the kindest people we know.  She is down to earth, kind, loving, a great Mom, Wife, Friend, Daughter, Sister, Neice, Aunt and the list goes on.  She is someone that knows what you are thinking and you don't even have to say it.  I believe it is some sort of super power that she has!  During her battle thus far, she has fought with everything she has, while still putting others first.  Asking us about our day, how our kids are doing, and being there for all of us, as we want to be there for her.  She has not let this disease take over her life, and is fighting like hell for those little ones, who she will protect with everything she has.  I can't even begin to describe how strong she has been for her kids. I truly admire her for how she has handled this life obstacle, and know she is going to do something great in the world advocating about this disease as a survivor.

So what can we do for her?  One thing Megan is passionate about is raising awareness for this disease and advocating for others to get checked!  Please join us in raising funds for Breast Cancer research, 24/7 support for people facing breast cancer, access to life savings screenings and so much more!  You can make a donation, or join the team and raise funds as well!  Thank you in advance for your support of our BABE!

How Fundraising Impacts Your Community

Cancer hits far too close to home, so the funds you raise will help do the same. Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.

As of January 2022, we have invested $71 M for potentially lifesaving breast cancer specific research grants.

We have received over 250,000 calls and chats from patients and caregivers seeking support in 2021

Cancer patients benefited from ACS transportation support through our Road TO Recovery program and transportation grants in 2021, with nearly 229,000 rides provided.

Welcome to our Team Page. We've formed a team because this cause is important to us. We want to help. And walking and raising money in our local American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is the best way we can do that. We all have different reasons for participating but we share a determination to help save lives from breast cancer.

There are so many ways that the money our team raises helps. It’s helping fund innovative research. It's providing free information for people dealing with the disease. It’s providing rides to treatment and places to stay for people who have to seek treatment far from home. In short, our money is helping save lives. Consider donating to our team and helping advance the cause.

How We Support the American Cancer Society

Of course we walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. And we solicit donations from family, friends, and other supporters. But we also schedule fundraisers in lead-up to the big event. Bake-sales, car washes, and countless other types of events. And we promote those on social media, through Facebook and Twitter, by word of mouth, and through flyers at work and around the neighborhood. The success of fundraising events depends on two things - hard work and getting the word out. And we're out to do both. Keep an eye out for our fundraising events.
