Every year that goes by since my diagnosis with breast cancer in 2012, I feel gratitude deep in my heart for my continued good health (I marked 12 years of being cancer free in August!)... for the love of "my boys" - John and Connor - and for those family and friends who have been by my side and whose love and support surround me. Even as we continue to work to defeat this disease, it continues to touch those we love. In the past year, another member of my extended family found out that she too belongs to this club none of us ever wanted to join. But like every person I know who has waged their own battle and won, or who fights on every day, she too is a warrior and I know she'll vanquish this foe. Research is the ticket to taking down breast cancer once and for all. And fundraising is the key to keeping that research going. That's why I'm once again proud and ready to lead the amazing "Lovin' Laura" team through the streets of downtown Rochester for the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. And, as always, with every step we take this year and every dollar we raise, I ask you to hold in your prayers every person who battles each day - both those you know and love and those you haven't met but who need your caring spirit. For this first time since 2012, our college junior son won't be with us in person for the walk (his fall break doesn't line up this year), but Con will most definitely be with his Mamma in spirit! And John and I will be at Innovative Field (formerly Frontier Field) on Sunday morning, October 13 to lead the Lovin' Laura team. The walk starts at 10:00 a.m. We'll be in our usual spot near the stadium ticket window by 9:15. As always, I hope you can join us at Innovative Field. And whether or not you can make it that day, I hope you'll support this cause that is so incredibly important to all of our Saxby and Lynch family members. I am grateful for any donation you're able to make. Your generosity through the years has been humbling and incredibly meaningful to me. Thank you endlessly for your love, friendship, and for supporting this cause that is so very important. Love, Laura

Thank you for fueling the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer.
Cancer hits far too close to home, so the funds you raise will help do the same. Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.
As of January 2022, we have invested $71 M for potentially lifesaving breast cancer specific research grants.
We have received over 250,000 calls and chats from patients and caregivers seeking support in 2021
Cancer patients benefited from ACS transportation support through our Road TO Recovery program and transportation grants in 2021, with nearly 229,000 rides provided.
Many thanks to our generous sponsors for fueling the American Cancer Society's fight against breast cancer.

Welcome to our Team Page. We've formed a team because this cause is important to us. We want to help. And walking and raising money in our local American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is the best way we can do that. We all have different reasons for participating but we share a determination to help save lives from breast cancer.
There are so many ways that the money our team raises helps. It’s helping fund innovative research. It's providing free information for people dealing with the disease. It’s providing rides to treatment and places to stay for people who have to seek treatment far from home. In short, our money is helping save lives. Consider donating to our team and helping advance the cause.
How We Support the American Cancer Society
Of course we walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. And we solicit donations from family, friends, and other supporters. But we also schedule fundraisers in lead-up to the big event. Bake-sales, car washes, and countless other types of events. And we promote those on social media, through Facebook and Twitter, by word of mouth, and through flyers at work and around the neighborhood. The success of fundraising events depends on two things - hard work and getting the word out. And we're out to do both. Keep an eye out for our fundraising events.
