At Iron Galaxy Studios, we're all about creating worlds where players can overcome challenges. In the real world, many face the toughest challenge of all - battling breast cancer. That's why our team has chosen to support this cause and participate in the walk for breast cancer awareness.
Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer worldwide, impacting 1 in 8 women in their lifetime. Early detection and treatment can save lives, but there is still work to be done to find a cure and ensure that all women have access to the care they need. We walk to honor the brave survivors, support those currently battling the disease, and remember those we've lost.
By participating in this event, we aim to:
Raise critical funds for research and treatment. Spread awareness about the importance of early detection. Show solidarity with all those affected by breast cancer. Encourage our community to take proactive steps for their health.
Just like in games, every level matters. Every step we take brings us closer to a future without breast cancer, and we are proud to join hands with others who share this vision.
Together, we can make a difference - one step at a time.
When I register online am I also registered for the walk? Yes! How long is the walk? Approximately a 5K (3.1 miles) Do I have to walk the entire way? No, you can just come and enjoy the day! How much does it cost to register? It is free to sign up and walk! Everyone that wants to participate in the walk will need to register. It is easier to register ahead of time, but they can register on the day of the walk in person as well! I want to help fundraise but not sure how, who do I ask? The American Cancer Society offers a super easy ACS FUNdraising App to help raise funds to save lives. You can search for the app in your app store on your phone. Your team leader Marina Suarez will help you get started. Is there special recognition for Breast Cancer Survivors? Yes! At Making Strides, breast cancer survivors are considered VIP’s of the event because they are LIVING PROOF that breast cancer can be beaten! Self-Identified survivors receive a complimentary survivor shirt in the mail to wear to the walk and there is a special survivor celebration tent to visit when you arrive! All survivors register as participants and self-identify as survivors if they choose to do so. Do you have to be a survivor or caregiver to join the team? No! Anyone who cares about the issue, or likes to walk, or interested in hanging out with their colleagues outside of work is invited to join the team! What should I wear to the walk? Most people show their pink passion and “pink out” and/or wear their team shirts to celebrate the day. Can I invite my family to join the team? Yes! Family members are welcome and encouraged to join.
