Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Indian River County Walk 2024 is just around the corner and once again, it is with great JOY that I share I continue to be cancer-free. The photo above was taken at the 2023 Strides Event where each survivor was recognized as s/he received a Survivor badge and acknowledgement of survivorship years. It was a very special experience as I hope you can see and feel. (And of course, right there in the pink dress is my sister Suzi, one of my most dedicated and significant supporters since being diagnosed for the first time in 1998.) I am grateful to each of you who have reached out during the year to inquire about my niece Molly’s recovery from the surgery last year. I am thrilled to share that she has had a wonderful recovery and is in stellar health. Molly is working at HonorHealth Research Institute treating patients who are on clinical trials including nearly every type of advanced stage cancer (including breast!). Many patients have undergone numerous surgeries and treatments before coming to the clinic, which gives hope to those who have been told there is “nothing else to do”. There have been MANY success stories and trials that have gone on to become standard treatment. I am so proud of the work she is doing and our shared dedication to continue finding a cure for Cancer. News from Michael and I Since our lease was going to end and our landlord was not planning to renew, we needed to consider our moving forward options. After much thought and discussion, we decided to purchase the home we had been renting since 2019. We are enjoying owning our home and are making upgrades slowly. Kyra and Julia came for a visit in July and as always is, it was magnificent to spend quality time with them. Kyra is still living in and loving Tahoe. And speaking of Tahoe…a few weeks ago when the Fritz Family spent a long weekend visiting, Julia and Greg got engaged! The proposal was a surprise to Julia even though the rest of us knew about the plan. We are ALL ecstatic and look forward to welcoming Greg into the family fold at an even deeper level! Other news… Suzi and Ron are relocating to Gloucester Point, Virginia. Although unplanned, they were blown away when just for the heck of it, Ron looked online in early July, at the home they rented in 2007, and was surprised to see an old photo of his mom (who passed away in June) and Suzi on the beach (circa 2007). They took it as a sign to consider making a change. Upon reaching out to their former landlord to check in, he asked if they might be interested in renting again as the current tenants were moving out after 8 years. They put their home on the market and had a contract within days. Lots of moving parts and opportunities abound. So, visiting Virgina will be included in my upcoming travel plans! With all this said, it is clear to identify that the one constant that remains is Change. Be open to it, embrace it and trust that all is aligned perfectly. I know I do as I celebrate the gift of every single day. I am proud to support Making Strides as I promote team Live Life for the 24th year. I continue to feel passionate about making a difference and thank each of you for the continued support. Our walk will be held on October 19,2024 at Riverside Park in Vero Beach. Please consider supporting Team LIVE LIFE by donating, walking “with” us or by simply keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. XO Elizabeth

Thank you for fueling the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer.
Cancer hits far too close to home, so the funds you raise will help do the same. Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.
As of January 2022, we have invested $71 M for potentially lifesaving breast cancer specific research grants.
We have received over 250,000 calls and chats from patients and caregivers seeking support in 2021
Cancer patients benefited from ACS transportation support through our Road TO Recovery program and transportation grants in 2021, with nearly 229,000 rides provided.
Many thanks to our generous sponsors for fueling the American Cancer Society's fight against breast cancer.

Strides RewardsThis isn’t what I wanted.
Welcome to our Team Page. We've formed a team because this cause is important to us. We want to help. And walking and raising money in our local American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is the best way we can do that. We all have different reasons for participating but we share a determination to help save lives from breast cancer.
There are so many ways that the money our team raises helps. It’s helping fund innovative research. It's providing free information for people dealing with the disease. It’s providing rides to treatment and places to stay for people who have to seek treatment far from home. In short, our money is helping save lives. Consider donating to our team and helping advance the cause.
How We Support the American Cancer Society
Of course we walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. And we solicit donations from family, friends, and other supporters. But we also schedule fundraisers in lead-up to the big event. Bake-sales, car washes, and countless other types of events. And we promote those on social media, through Facebook and Twitter, by word of mouth, and through flyers at work and around the neighborhood. The success of fundraising events depends on two things - hard work and getting the word out. And we're out to do both. Keep an eye out for our fundraising events.
