Kicking Cancer's Butt (one step at a time)

Kim Provenza and Terri Brown, colleagues at Florida Blue, found themselves on a shared journey when they were both diagnosed with breast cancer. Despite the challenges they faced, they were grateful for the support they received from each other, their employer, colleagues, family, and friends. Kim, diagnosed during a routine Mammogram in May 2023, underwent an active treatment plan that included multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation. She finished active treatment in February 2024. Throughout her experience, she realized that not everyone has the same level of support at work and home. This sparked an idea to create a network that would provide guidance and assistance to those battling breast cancer, particularly those who lack a strong support system. In May 2024, Terri had a routine Mammogram that led to further tests, a biopsy, and a cancer diagnosis on June 4, 2024. She is currently on an active treatment plan after having surgery on July 23, 2024. Terri feels blessed and thankful for the amazing culture experienced at Florida Blue, which has supported her through all the challenges a cancer patient faces. Both Kim and Terri are grateful for the support they've received, but they know that not everyone is as fortunate. They're now on a mission to help those who lack access to essential resources and support.
