Fast forward to July 2018 when Mel feels like something is wrong. She gets testing done to find out not only is “it” back... but it’s more aggressive than the first time and it’s in both breasts with two different types of cancer! On September 9th, 2018, at 47 years of age and 15 years cancer free, Mel started her 2nd fight. This is the same time Mel’s Breasties was born! In October 2018 Mel participated in what would be her final walk as she sadly lost her fight on January 8th, 2019. So when asked why I’m making strides ..... SHE is the reason. I always told her she wasn’t fighting alone and I will continue to fight in her name and in her honor. I’ll do whatever I can to raise awareness and show my support! Sis, I know you’re watching and supporting from the heavens ..... I love you! Forever Mel’s Breastie always in ALL ways! 

 

Even though we all have our own reasons for joining Making Strides, we’ll take down breast cancer because we’re in it together. Our team is fundraising for the American Cancer Society’s support services and lifesaving research.
