Ed's Pack

No bones about it, cancer bites!

WHY WE'RE ED’S PACK

Ed loved dogs.🐶

Any dog, big or small. He and Kristi have one human kid (Jessi, the team captain and composer of this story), but the list of their four legged kids spands on a bit. He was the dog whisperer in a way. Dogs were our thing as a family- people thought Ed and Kristi were crazy for having a teenager and four large dogs at one point. Little did they see the happiness bursting from that household.

An excerpt from his eulogy by Jessi that should explain a lot:

I’ll never forget the day we brought AJ, our black lab who passed away a few years ago, home. Mom and I surprised Dad with him for fathers’ day, and the look on Dad’s face when the 27 pound 10 week old floppy puppy bounded around the side of our neighbors’ house was priceless. He and AJ became inseparable, from hanging around with the neighbor guys to stealing firewood from the neighbor guys to sitting around a campfire at Starve Hallow Lake. And yes, both of them were in lawn chairs.

There’s the stories of Mollie and Lu, two strays that Dad said we would find good homes for, but left out the part where that good home was our house; Hunter, a Bernese Mountain Dog who didn’t like anybody but us, which drove Dad crazy; and then there’s Bentley, a two year old Bernese Golden Mountain Dog that, after a week of training sessions, my parents were informed is incredibly smart and drives them crazy on purpose. A quick glance at Dad’s Instagram will tell you- he’s always been proud of his 4 legged kids as he is of me.

How We Relay

Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We’ll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we’ll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.

Together, we’ll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.

Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.

1.34 million in 2017

Calls and chats from patients and caregivers seeking support.

Nearly
452 thousand in 2017
