Panda Strong

Why We Relay

For years cancer has affected our families. We have many people that are part of the "Panda Strong" family. Some have battled cancer and others have been the family and friends of those who fought the good fight. Among these names are members of the Panda Strong Team who have had cancer (some survived and some have not) or walked, relayed, fundraised, supported, been caregivers and lost loved ones: Dwiggins, Hoon, Friend,  Hood, Hudson, Ross, Johnson, Bacon, Sepulveda, Masingale, Gallick, Miller, Portillo, Dominguez, Butler and many others including the Beach family. We have lost many loved ones but with the research and advances made by the American Cancer Society, we also now have survivors. Our team is trying to make a difference in this long fight. We need to take a stand against cancers of all kinds.

Many of us have participated in the Relay For Life in previous years but we are standing together this year as One Whole Family to help make a difference.  We know that through our efforts a cure can be made possible.

If you have ever been affected by cancer, either having it yourself or having someone you know and love fight the battle, you can join us in our efforts to erradicate this terrible disease once and for all.

Our name and mascot comes from someone very dear to our hearts. Ashley Christine Ross was a light to our family. She was an amazing person who accepted everyone as they were. Loved everyone she ever met. Encouraged all who were battling their own issues all the way till she had to leave us.

Ashley loved Pandas. If you have ever seen one, you know they are strong and yet gentle beings.  That was our Ashley. She was small in stature, gentle in spirit, and yet the strongest, most fierce person I have been honored to know. She battled her own fight with cancer and sadly lost that battle. But because of what she did for us, the war will be won. Her light will forever be in us. Please take a moment to join our team, donate to our cause or both.

With Love and Prayers,

Lulu Beach, Team Captain

How We Relay

Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We’ll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the relay, we’ll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.  We will take turns walking laps starting Saturday morning and ending on Sunday morning. We will play games, camp out, sleep (if possible), and take time to appreciate the lives we are able to live.

Together, we’ll be a part of making a difference, in awareness and funds, ifor this important cause.
