It's a Bear Necessity
Why We Formed a Relay For Life Fundraising Team
Welcome to our team page! Our team was formed by 4 sisters in 2003-04 in memory of our Mom, who died of lung cancer, and invited family and friends to join. Our first team captain was Erica Hunter, who had been involved in Relay when she lived in VA and WA, then IL and was a committee member as a student at ISU. After our first Relay in 2004 she announced that we needed to rasie at least $3,000 every year. She was tragically killed in a car accident shortly after. We have raised over $94,000 in our first 16 years and will continue to have a goal of over $3,000 to help the fight.
Please join our team or make a donation. Saving lives from cancer starts one team, one participant, one dollar at a time.

It's a Bear Necessity doesn't have any donations yet.
Be The First To DonateCancer hits far too close to home, so the funds you raise will help do the same. Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.
Funding potentially lifesaving cancer research grants.
Calls and chats from patients and caregivers seeking support.
Nights of free lodging provided to patients at Hope Lodge® communities.
Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.
Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
