About 10,470 children in the United States under the age of 15 will be diagnosed with cancer in 2022. Childhood cancer rates have been rising slightly for the past few decades making it is the leading cause of death by disease past infancy among children in the United States.
At this years Relay for Life at the University of Cincinnati I, as team captain, will be relaying in honor of Collin Tanner, who recently lost his 5 year battle to Osteosarcoma. Collin had the ability to light up any room. I will always remember him for his kindness, sense of humor, selflessness, and strength. He was truly a warrior. During our senior year, we would talk about our excitement to start at UC in the fall together, along with all of our friends. Words can't describe how hard Collin fought to be here in Cincinnati with us, and how much we wish he was here. I am grateful for the opportunity to honor my favorite Bearcat at Gettler Stadium.
All proceeds this team accumulates will be donated specifically towards pediatric cancer awareness to various organizations supporting the fight against kids with cancer. Whether you have been personally affected by pediatric cancer, know someone who has, or just feel compelled to join our fight, we would love to have you on our team. If you are able, please join us at Gettler Stadium for the UC chapter of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life by signing up on our relay page.

Thank you for fueling the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer.
Cancer hits far too close to home, so the funds you raise will help do the same. Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.
As of January 2022, we have invested $400 M for potentially lifesaving cancer research grants.
We have received over 250,000 calls and chats from patients and caregivers seeking support in 2021
Cancer patients benefited from ACS transportation support through our Road TO Recovery program and transportation grants in 2021, with nearly 229,000 rides provided.
Many thanks to our generous sponsors for fueling the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer.

Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.
Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
