Lauritzen's Lifesavers
Lauritzen's Lifesavers is a team made up predominately of students. Some of them are students who attended the Lawrence Gifted Magnet. The team also features teachers, friends and family, as well as cancer survivors. This year, I am excited to be bringing the team to Chatsworth High School. While there are adults on the team, the majority of the spirit, enthusiasm, and fundraising have come from this wonderful group of students. They have put a great deal of effort into making our team a success.
This type of giving spirit should be fostered and encouraged in young people. Please consider donating to our team members. You can also purchase a luminaria bag (for $10) to support or remember someone who has had cancer. You can honor a survivor, support someone who is fighting cancer, or remember someone special. You can also purchase luminaria bags for your pets. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death among dogs and cats. Research done by ACS has also helped to find better treatments for animals as well.
As part of relay for life, we always want to honor survivors. If you are a cancer survivor or know a cancer survivor, please sign up for our relay or ask them to sign up. Scroll down and click where it says to join my team and be sure to mark that you are a survivor. Survivors who attend the event will get some special goodies at the event. They will also be invited to participate in the opening lap of the relay. Survivors are not required to fundraise for the event, but may do so if they wish to do so. Caregivers are also very important. They will be invited to walk in the second lap of the relay.
Anyone who would like to help us fundraise for the event is welcome to join our team. If you just wish to make a donation or attend the event, you do not need to join the team.
If you scroll down on this page, you will see boxes that you can click to join the team, make a donation, or buy a luminaria. Any donations that are made on this page will be attributed to the team as a whole. If you wish to buy a luminaria or donate to a particular team member’s fundraising efforts, please click on that team member’s name and then click donate or buy a luminaria on their page.

Thank you for fueling the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer.
Cancer hits far too close to home, so the funds you raise will help do the same. Through services and resources like free rides to chemo, free places to stay near hospitals, and a live 24/7 helpline, cancer patients and their families will feel the love. Here’s how recent money raised has been put to incredible uses.
Since 1991 we have invested $3.43 billion in cancer research.
We have received over 360,000 calls and chats from patients and caregivers seeking support in 2023.
Cancer patients benefited from the ACS transportation support through our Road To Recovery program and transportation grants in 2023, with nearly 769,000 rides provided.
Many thanks to our generous sponsors for fueling the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer.

This isn’t what I wanted.
Cancer has touched all of us in some way. And we want to stop this disease in its tracks. We'll spend the next few weeks fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Then, on the day of the event, we'll honor the lives lost to cancer, celebrate survivors, and support the caregivers who so selflessly help others.
Together, we'll be a part of making a difference in this important cause.
